It was sooo hard to push the button to send that email. I  already had my mind set that one day (probably five years from now when I had more business coming in),  I would have a mentoring session with Tara Liebeck. I say five years from now because not only would it be the cost of the session, but the cost of a plane ticket as well as a place to stay and food to eat. It just wasn’t something that was feasible at the time. Then an opportunity came up. Tara was coming back to Missouri for a couple weeks and we happened to have a little extra money in the budget. One plus one equals two right??

I had to talk to Seth about it… Maybe it was more about me trying to justify spending that money on myself rather than about getting his support. He has been my number one supporter in pursuing my photography business and I couldn’t love him more for that. This purchase was different though. It wasn’t a new desktop that I desperately needed in order to run my business and produce my images with. It was not a new lens or camera body that I needed to grow my business. It was certainly not a new roof that we need so incredibly bad or a new fishing pole, boat, hunting bow, xbox, or tickets to the chiefs game. This was not a tangible purchase. I wasn’t going into a store and carrying out something physical that I could touch and use as equipment. But nonetheless, Seth supported me and knew how much this opportunity to learn could boost my business and growth as a photographer. So I. Pushed. The. Button.

Exactly one week ago, I had the privilege of getting to spend the evening with Tara Liebeck!! Finally!! It couldn’t have happened at a better time either! Tara is owner and photographer of Tara Liebeck Photography and now I am so excited to call her my friend . 🙂  If you have not checked out Tara’s website, you really should! She is amazing at what she does and she has such a great and inspiring story of hard work and dedication that allowed her dream to become a reality. Tara is such a fun loving, go-get-em girl. I literally spent five minutes with this gal and felt like I had known her for years! She just has that kind of personality and personable character that you can’t help but love her.

After our formal discussion, we took Robert and Carleigh out on a mini engagement session which was so much fun! They were great models and were so patient while we moved around them discussing different techniques. You can view their session here. 🙂

I learned SO MUCH from Tara and can confidently say that it was worth every pretty penny! She was so patient with me and answered all of my questions. It was definitely an experience I won’t forget and will continue to use to grow my business. Thank you Seth for supporting me and my dream and thank you Tara for being such an awesome teacher and mentor!!
